Overview |
"Die böse Welt indessen begann schon mitten in unserem eigenen Hause."
Emil Sinclair (Hangul: 에밀 싱클레어, Emil Singkeulleeo) is designated Sinner #11 of Limbus Company's LCB department.
More frequently known as just Sinclair, he is an anxious and self-conscious man with a blatantly empathetic nature. He was previously affiliated with the prosthetic-famous town of Calw, having lived and attended school there prior to joining Limbus Company.
He is the focus character of Canto III: The Unconfronting.
Appearance[]
Sinclair is depicted as being below average height. He has golden blond hair with golden eyes and a fair complexion.
His primary work attire consists of a plain white shirt tucked into a black waist belt and is accompanied by black suspenders, black suit pants, and a long Limbus Company coat. He wears a red necktie and attached to his left suspender strap is his ID. Sinclair has black gloves and wears black oxford shoes.
Personality[]
Sinclair initially shows a passive personality, he often avoids confrontations whenever possible. Similar to his literary portrayal, Sinclair shows a fear of uncertainty and is displayed as a timid character. In general, Sinclair is shown to be introverted and often has difficulty with accepting the violence and insolence of the world. He often doubts himself and externally monologues his uncertainty - occasionally reminiscing over what a certain someone would've done. Having grown up a sheltered life in District 11 and now finding himself in the company, he is still considerably innocent and naïve. Demian commented that Sinclair resembled a baby bird preparing to break out of a shell.
In Canto II, Rodion comments on how she could immediately tell Sinclair was from a rich family due to the way he "walks and talks". Prior in the chapter, Faust explains that the Mariachis were seeking "unpolished and unstable" flair, suggesting that Sinclair be the one to perform a dance on behalf of the company. When he is on stage, he continues to doubt himself. Many characters comment on how Sinclair seems to be fighting some repressed turmoil and darkness within himself, mirroring his literary source and how he is fighting to break free of a shell.
Although he wishes to be a logical person, he is openly very emotional in some situations in an effort to protect himself or do his job in the company. In Canto III, after a fight with a group of N Corp. Inquisitors, Sinclair was overtaken by his emotions and continually allowed himself to skewer the corpse of a fallen Inquisitor. Don Quixote had to step in to return him to his senses, highlighting how truly easy it is for Sinclair to lose himself in his emotions. Sinclair has shown a great reaction to Kromer due to his past with her. When overcome by emotions, he is ruthless and violent. Even Kromer comments in Canto III how his speech was unlike his past self, although this rage did not make him any stronger.
Weapon[]
Sinclair's main weapon is his halberd, VOGEL. He wields VOGEL with both hands. His halberd is 180 cm in height (approximately 5'9' ft), notably taller than he is. In some IDs, he is depicted as right-handed.
- As Blade Lineage Salsu Sinclair, he wields a jikdo (straight blade). The handle has a red tassel tied to its end.
- As Los Mariachis Jefe Sinclair, he wields two maracas that change color based on the reactivity of his attacks. The base colors of the maracas are pink with white and yellow chevron-stripes running horizontally through the center. On critical strikes, the bells of the maracas turn into a cyan color with black chevron-stripes.
- As Zwei Assoc. South Section 6 Sinclair, he wields a stun baton with both hands. He primarily holds the baton with his right hand and punches opponents with his left hand.
- As The One Who Shall Grip Sinclair, he wields a bloodied halberd almost similar to that of his signature VOGEL, with the main exception being the lack of said name on the weapon.
- As Lobotomy E.G.O::Red Sheet Sinclair, he wields the E.G.O equipment Red Sheet in its set: Weapon and Suit. He also throws paper talismans, which are likely also part of the E.G.O.
- As Molar Boatworks Fixer Sinclair he wields a modified long chainsaw spear, similar to Rain.
- As Cinq Assoc. South Section 4 Director Sinclair, he wields a standard Cinq Association rapier.
- As Dawn Office Fixer Sinclair, he wields a short sword. Upon partially manifesting his E.G.O in the form of Volatile E.G.O, his sword, now wide, is covered in orange veins.
