Portrait of a Certain Day is a (0-02-20-05) is a TETH-class Abnormality that is fought on Section 1 of Line 4: Masquerade.

It is the source of the E.G.O Bygone Days , and the EGO gift Headless Portrait, representing the Master Of The Manor.

Appearance[]

Portrait of a Certain Day appears as a headless human body dressed in a floor-length gray coat. In the headless body's hand is the associated E.G.O Gift, Headless Portrait. The coat curls inwards as it reaches the ground and holds an oversized, skeletal head with its gaping maw open. Two massive sinewy arms come from the midst of the creature's back, with four-fingered hands that touch the ground.

This is a corridor of a large, wooden mansion. Its floorboards are ancient.

You can hear creaking noises approaching from a distance. Something walks in this direction.

'My master had a very unfortunate life.'

'I am the butler of this house.'

'Sad, sad things happened here. Many sad things.'

'I still carry with me my master's portrait because no one remembers them anymore.'

Trivia[]

  • Portrait of a Certain Day's mirror dungeon event bears extreme resemblance to a passage from Emily Brontë's novel Wuthering Heights, where the maid Nelly Dean is showing a houseguest a portrait of her late master Edgar Linton following the major events of the novel.
  • The E.G.O art for this Abnormality features aspects from the Sinners that is using its E.G.O. This is currently the only Abnormality that does so.
    • Yi Sang's Bygone Days feature pieces of broken glass, while the portrait the Abnormality is holding is replaced by a broken mirror.
    • Gregor's Bygone Days feature insectile appendages, while the portrait the Abnormality is holding has insectile appendages emerging from it.
  • The scenery outside the manor in the E.G.O Background of this Abnormality resembles the forest seen in the Battle Background of Faelantern.
    • This may be due to the fact that in Mirror Dungeons, the E.G.O Gift from this Abnormality ('Headless Portrait') can be fused with Faelantern's E.G.O Gift ('Midwinter Nightmare') to produce a unique Tier IV E.G.O Gift ('Black Sheet Music') that is only obtainable through this method.
