“ | Yes. I shall become an infernal hound; snarling, tearing at the fabric of the City… And I will shove its remnants into this sack… and grate it across the broken earth. I curse myself… and everything that did this to me and Cathy… | ” |

Behavior[]
Heathcliff, The Heartbroken starts the battle with Deep Bereavement, and the effect persists throughout the battle.
Attack Pattern[]
When The Chain part is not broken, Heathcliff, The Heartbroken follows a simple Skill rotation that consists of 5-Turn cycles:
- Brush Wounds, Brush Wounds, Broken Heart, Broken Heart, 'Ruination, Wailing, and Lamentation', Reflexive Revenge
- Brush Wounds, Brush Wounds, Broken Heart, Broken Heart, 'Ruination, Wailing, and Lamentation', Reflexive Revenge
- Undeserving of Speech, Undeserving of Speech, Brush Wounds, Brush Wounds, 'Ruination, Wailing, and Lamentation', Reflexive Revenge
- Bodysack, Bodysack, Bodysack, Reflexive Revenge, 'Ruination, Wailing, and Lamentation', Brush Wounds
- Bodysack, Bodysack, Bodysack, Reflexive Revenge, 'Ruination, Wailing, and Lamentation', Undeserving of Speech
When The Chain part is broken, Heathcliff, The Heartbroken uses an alternate Skill rotation:
- Brush Wounds, Broken Heart, Undeserving of Speech, Lunacy of the Frenzied Wolf
- Brush Wounds, Brush Wounds, Undeserving of Speech, Lunacy of the Frenzied Wolf
Parts[]
Heathcliff, The Heartbroken is made up of two parts: The Chain and the Body. When The Chain is broken, it is permanently destroyed; it is no longer targetable, and does not regenerate. Breaking the Body does not have any effect on the execution of its Skills, and the part regenerates after one Turn.
Events[]
There are two Combat Events. The first occurs when the Body of Heathcliff, The Heartbroken is Staggered for the first time.
Heathcliff, Heartbroken, is shaking and stumbling.
What is that fluid dribbling from his mouth? Is it blood… or tears of sorrow?
… This might be our chance to convey something to Heathcliff.
The second Combat Event occurs when The Chain part is broken and the Body part is Staggered for the second time.
Once again, Heathcliff the Heartbroken falls to the ground.
He is hyperventilating and shaking his head wildly. It is a difficult sight to bear.
The fluid pooled and pooled on the ground until it became a small puddle.
Notes[]
The triggering condition for the Status Effect Fettered Woe is either at the next Turn End after reaching 3+ Count, or when the part with the
Fettered Woe Status Effect sufferes another Clash Lose.
Text[]
This is the first fight to have red text on Screen during the fight that isn't song lyrics, like many other fights in Library of Ruina.
Me... a thing lesser than a savage beast... must I keep pretending to be a human?
We killed Catherine... we don't deserve to live.
I keep... hearing a voice in my head...
My vulgar, low birth can't change.
I couldn't change. Just a ragged sack full of waste, that's what I am.
I don't need to speak as humans do. I only howl.
Cathy, I'm back... Please...
You and I... shoved into a sack... we must shatter into a thousand pieces.
I will drag it all down... to the ends of the inferno.
Observation Logs[]
Log Writer: Don Quixote
(There used to be records of Don Quixote’s subjective opinions regarding Heathcliff here, but it’s gone now. Erased by Faust, most likely.)
… Allow me to describe Sir Heathcliff, who had transformed into a wolf…
Mayhap it has aught to do with the fact that they are both wolven, yet I saw quite a bit of similarities between Sir Heathcliff and Hindley! The mournful look, for one!
Hmmmmm, howbeit, Sir Heathcliff was much more fierce and wrathful! I sensed much more stubbornness and bullheadedness in him than in Hindley.
The greatest contrast may be the fact that Sir Heathcliff’s eyes were gleaming with violet light, and that he carried a sack attached to his body by a chain!
Indeed, the selfsame sack he swung in battle afore! Whoosh! He doth the very same even in his wolven form!
I had thought that he was swinging with abandon, yet there was method to his madness! Oft did I espy him targeting strategically, as though he was out on a hunt! It appeared that he primarily targeted those who destroyed the chain.
Thus we sought to flank him, hoping that this indicated a frail body… alas! His entire body was ironclad, covered from head to paw with sturdy metal plates!
Hm, ‘twas quite difficult to strike his back thanks to the numerous thorns on his back, and… Ah! Verily, attacking a friend was, in of itself, a difficult task indeed! Prithee, let there be no misunderstanding regarding my stance on the matter!
Well, we still did return Sir Heathcliff back to his usual self with our combined might! Let thee never change again!
Aha! Forsooth, worry not should thee find thyself changed again! We shall beat thee senseless back to thy original form!
→ I-I wish there was a different way to bring people back. It looked like he was in a lot of pain whenever we hit him… (Sinclair)
→ Then I shall beat him less painfully! (Don Quixote)
→ That’s not at all what I’m talking about… (Sinclair)
→ We lack the sufficient information regarding Distortions to devise a different plan of action. Even if we were to discover a way, there is no guarantee that it is something universally applicable. Therefore, I conclude that we must prioritize suppression via martial strength. However, if you consider inflicting pain to be an unsavory element in the process, utilizing weaker strikes may be an alternative method. (Faust)
→ You know what…? Nevermind. (Sinclair)
Trivia[]
- In the music track that plays during this fight, Heathcliff can be heard speaking, saying "I don't know... Catherine..." in Korean.
