Behavior[]

Headless Ichthys starts the battle with 1 stack of Blood Sac, and gains 1 more at the end of every turn. Once it reaches the end of its Attack Pattern, it replaces that passive with 1 stack of Fluid Sac, and gains 1 more at the end of every turn up to a maximum of 3. If the Tail is broken and it would increase to 4 stacks of Fluid Sac, it rotates back to Blood Sac. Otherwise, it stays in Fluid Sac form permanently.

Headless Ichthys does a lot of things, and has a long list of skill rotations. However, it is rather simple, boiling down to 2 main components. The state of the Body, and the state of the Tail.

If Ichthys has Blood Sac active, and the Tail exists:

As a note, the skill rotation chosen does not rely on the stacks of Blood Sac. If the Tail is broken and Blood Sac reaches 3 stacks, Headless Ichthys will use the first rotation of skills for that particular skill rotation rather than the third. This means that it can skip using Blood Sac entirely, and go straight to the Fluid Sac rotation the following turn. Likewise, it doesn't actually need to use Blood Cannon to rotate from Blood Sac to Fluid Sac. If the body is Staggered the turn it is supposed to use it, or if it loses the clash, it still rotates over to Fluid Sac without having released its stored up blood.

Parts[]

Headless Ichthys has 4 parts. However, two of them are functionally identical.

The arms of Headless Ichthys share the same behavior, but use different versions of the clapping skills. When destroyed, they continue to use skills, but have all their weapon weaknesses turn Fatal.

The Tail can be permanently destroyed. Doing so permanently changes the behavior of Headless Ichthys.

The Body has an AoE weight of 2. This means that every AoE attack that targets the body draws in an additional AoE attack with no additional effect. The Body can also be permanently destroyed. However, it has a few changes throughout the fight. While Blood Sac is active, it has an increased resistance to Wrath and a decreased resistance to Gloom. This means that its usual Endure [x0.75] to Wrath because Ineff. [x0.375], and its usual Endure [x0.75] to Gloom becomes Weak [x1.125].

Event[]

If the Body was Staggered, an Abnormality event is triggered on the turn it recovers from Stagger. If the skill check is passed, the Body takes a variable amount of damage, causing it to break.

Only this version of the boss uses the event.

Headless Ichthys behaves similarly to the base form, albeit with less and different actions. An important difference is that it doesn't gain Blood Sac or Fluid Sac. However, the passive Boiling Blood will activate if the Body is destroyed at any point, even though there is no Blood Sac.

On Stage 11 of Refraction Railway, it shares the stage with a version of Alleyway Watchdog. While both abnormalities are alive, the two combined will use a total of 5 skills, with each using a minimum of 1. Once the Watchdog is slain, Headless Ichthys returns to using all 5 skills and continuing where it left off in the standard rotation.

The order of the skills are taken from their standard rotation, starting from the first slot and moving towards the right for both. For example, the standard turn 2 for each abnormality is:

The amount of actions each abnormality has is randomly rolled at the start of every turn. Also, just like with normal encounters, if a part is staggered when it is its turn in the skill rotation, it gets skipped entirely. For example, on Turn 3, Headless Ichthys uses the skill Blood Cannon. However, if the body is staggered, it cannot use this skill, and then the two abnormalities combined only get to use 4 of their 5 skills.
