Limbus Company Wiki
Story

Background[]

From a young, unspecified age, Gregor was used as a G Corp. test subject.

Against his will, Hermann conducted an augmentation surgery on Gregor. This procedure gave Gregor his signature verminous right arm, which had the unique ability to regenerate and and did not inflict side effects, unlike the majority of G Corp. soldiers. He was then placed in a plain blue room where an apple dangled in front of him. There, scientists watched over him and instructed him daily to use his arm in order to slice it in half. For a long time, Gregor resisted, refusing to abide by these instructions. However, he would eventually reach a point where he could no longer fight back; proceeding to give into the scientists' commands and cut down the apple the day he turned fifteen years old.

Gregor believed that this would free him from the harsh reality he described as a nightmare, but it only continued. Using his arm, he would cut a numerous amount of apples, with no choice but to go along with what he was told to do.

Eventually, Gregor was sent to participate in the Smoke War and granted the rank of Manager. Given the special benefits of his arm which the other bug soldiers lacked, his troops looked up to him greatly, and he was widely seen as a symbol of hope in the terror of the war. Ultimately, whether Gregor wanted it or not, he would go on to become a widespread symbol of G Corp. war propaganda. Following the war, this would become a reason for many G Corp. veterans to despise Gregor.

Once the Smoke War finally came to an end, Gregor would attempt to live normally. Though the average person did not recognise him as the man from the propaganda posters, he nonetheless continued to suffer from his past, surrounded by the widespread repulsion and distrust people held towards G Corp. His arm did not assist in his attempts to become a normal citizen. At one point, it would become randomly agitated, attacking a civilian and horrifying the crowd, despite Gregor's desperate attempts to reel it in. All Gregor could do was scream for the security to cut if off. And yet, it always grew back.

With the passage of time, Gregor would manage to grow into the more stable, humorous man seen present day. He would then at some point join Limbus Company.

Main Story[]

Prologue: Selva Oscura[]

Gregor, along with the rest of the Sinners, would first become involved with the plot of the game as they find Dante being cornered by Wolf, Lion and Panther in a forest, being on the twelve Sinners bound by Dante's chains developed as their newfound role of Manager. Gregor would join the rest of the Sinners in what he deemed a "warm-up" against the trio of hunters, only for it to be cut short as Panther impales him. The Sinners would be revived once Vergilius defeats the trio, as everyone returns to Mephistopheles.

On the bus, Gregor would be the first to introduce themselves to Dante.

Canto I: The Outcast[]

Canto I: The Outcast would find the Sinners travelling to D Corp. in search of their first Golden Bough. As the Sinners bicker and kill one another during the drive to the District, Vergilius would explain the general goal of the Company when finding the Boughs. Arriving in the Backstreets of District 4, the group would meet Yuri, a Fixer and former member of the fallen Wing L Corp. Gregor would make casual discussion with the Fixer as the group travels towards the Lobotomy Corp. Branch housed in the District. Gregor would speak with Dante, explaining the concept of Nests while praising them for their lack of knowledge, immediately expressing his casual attitude.

Soon enough, following the defeat of assorted Backstreet hooligans, Rodion would point out more people outside the bus, these ones with bug heads. Gregor would recognize them as fellow soldiers of the Smoke War, identifiable through their G Corp. modifications in the form of bug-like modifications. Faust would explain this, much to the other Sinner's surprise as Gregor is revealed to have been a member of G Corp. Leaving the bus to confront the veterans, Gregor led the group much to his chagrin. The veterans would stop the group from approaching the Lobotomy Corp. Branch, only to be defeated by the Sinners, allowing them to continue moving towards their goal. When reaching the entrance of the Branch, the group would meet Aya and Hopkins, coworkers of Yuri.

While progressing deeper within the Branch, the Sinners would find several veterans inside, scavenging the Branch for resources. Though they initially offer the Sinners whatever is on the lower floors, their tone quickly turns hostile as they recognize Gregor, branding him as a disgusting traitor, upset over the privilege he was given compared to the rest of veterans. Set on fighting, the veterans would be defeated after a short scuffle. Gregor would make note of the stigma against members of a fallen Wing, something that Yuri relates to closely. As the group delves deeper into the Branch, Aya would be caught off-guard and impaled by Ebony Queen's Apple, beginning the group's first confrontation with an Abnormality. They would suppress the Abnormality much to their surprise, before Faust explains the intricacies of how the creatures function.

Deeper within the facility, Gregor would question how the Company functions, something explained by Faust. Following this, they would encounter the Old G Corp. Head Manager on the floor, morosely remembering the past of Gregor having worked under him. He would explain how the war continues on for the G Corp. veterans, upset that Gregor would consider it finished solely because he supposedly abandoned the veterans. The Head Manager would question how Gregor would find himself able to continue on without his honor, before calling Gregor a pest, 'no different from us', and dying. Gregor would borrow a cigarette from Ryōshū, throwing the lit cigarette onto the corpse of his former Head Manager.

Continuing on, the toxicity levels within the facility would rise as the group finds themselves closer towards the bottom. Hopkins would notice this, and put on a gas mask as a way to save himself, before departing with stolen Enkephalin, leaving the rest of his group behind. As the Sinners begin to slowly die from the poison, Yuri would collapse likewise, before being given Aya's gas mask by Gregor, citing it as the special treatment the girl's passed friend would have given her. Making sure Yuri wouldn't worry about the Sinners, Yuri would dwell on the past as the Branch initiated its burial sequence, wherein she would fail to save her friend Alex. Experiencing a level of survivor's guilt, Gregor would mention to the girl that she needs to carry on with the guilt, not letting it spoil her heart before dying. Left with solely Dante surviving, Yuri and the manager would continue their descent in the facility as the gas disperses.

Following a meeting with Alex and a battle with Doomsday Calendar, the Sinners would finally reach the Golden Bough deep within the facility. The Bough would resonate with Gregor, sending the group back to the middle of the Smoke War, explained by Outis to have been at least 70 days into the war. Here, they would meet with a reminisced version of Tomah, created through the resonance of the Bough, shocking Gregor as he begins to play along with the assistant private before approaching Faust in hopes of an explanation, which he would learn of this place as the fathoms of his ego. Gregor would be sent back in his memories, remembering the experiments he went through via Hermann's methods, seeing the apple that he was instructed to destroy. He would struggle to bring himself to destroy the fruit, before, eventually, he cut the apple in half after resigning himself to breaking out of the nightmare he thought he was stuck within. From there, Hermann wished him a happy fifteenth birthday. Gregor's memories would progress as he continually cuts the apples, coming to terms with the fact that he has been stuck within the nightmare he believed he escaped.

The fathoms created by the Golden Bough would modify as the Sinners stayed within its bounds, repeating the event of meeting Tomah, though now with greater mutations. Gregor would malaise on his past, never having wished for the procedures he got, nor his participation in the war. As the Smoke War was created by Gregor's memories, Yuri would join the party as they attempt to escape the battlefield while still going after the Golden Bough. While Aya's memento in the form of the gas mask slipped from her grasp, Yuri would be instructed how to tie it to herself by Ishmael so that it would not slip again. She continues to momentarily bond with the Sinners, jokingly offered a spot on the bus by Rodion as a mascot.

Gregor's memories would bring him back to a time on a subway, remembering the hate he was exposed to due to his modification. From this memory, the fathoms would change again, becoming even darker and more monstrous as Tomah simply stands nearby, rather than introduce himself again. Shortly after, he would point towards the sky as massive versions of Hermann's hands flew downwards, crushing Tomah as he states he doesn't want to die. The Sinners would begin running per Dante's orders, while Gregor realizes the way out will likely be to not run from the hands, thinking of his inability to express his free will, and how Hermann will always come after him, creating an inability for him to ever live for himself. A hand would grasp the Sinners, lifting them in the air, before the group suddenly found themselves back within the Lobotomy Corp. Branch, outside the containment room in which the Golden Bough was.

Gregor would say that Yuri can teach Charon how to use a map once the group returned back to Mephistopheles, with Yuri thankful to have a place to go back to. From this point, the Sinners began combat with the Golden Apple, which contained the Golden Bough within. In the midst of the fight, the Abnormality had its body broken, Yuri shouting that she'll check the state of it, much to Gregor's discomfort. However, he would be the one to escape out of the two as the False Apple's flesh expands, consuming Yuri within it. Nothing would be left as the Abnormality absorbed Yuri in her entirety, yet Gregor would slash at the creature, as if he hoped to manage finding her inside it. Inside, it was no more than a mass of maggots, silhouetted by the glow of the Golden Bough within. Yuri's voice would emanate from the Abnormality as if she were still alive, a sprouted head mimicking hers and repeating past sentences, staring at Gregor. Gregor knows it isn't truly Yuri, and attempts to kill the mimic, before it pleads for its life, stopping his arm from cutting her head off. Dante would order him to continue, as Gregor regresses to a memory of nearly killing a citizen, trying to order security guards to dismember his arm to save the woman. His arm would regenerate, reminding him of the curse he was inflicted with by his mother. Back to his senses, the mimic of Yuri would speak to Gregor, causing him to struggle to respond. Just as he attempts to continue speaking, Hermann and her group would arrive, severing Yuri's head from its stem as she acquires the Golden Bough from the head. Gregor would remain silent during his reunion with his mother, before making it known he never wished for his arm. Suddenly, Jia Huan would clap twice, engulfing the area in darkness as the N Corp. faction steals the Bough.

Returning to the bus, the Sinners would be scolded by Vergilius due to their inability to collect the Golden Bough, even though it should have been simple and easy, even for the Sinners. Gregor would take the blame for the failure, exhibiting his camaraderie with Dante. Gregor would stare out the window dejectedly, before putting the salvaged gas mask left behind by Yuri on the front window of the bus. He would mention having had a sister who was similar in age to Yuri. Charon would allow the gas mask to remain, waving like an ornament.

Relations[]

The Sinners[]

Hermann[]

Hermann is the reputable scientist who had a tight grip on Gregor for the majority of his life. She refers to him as her son, suggesting that she is his mother- however it may be that they simply harbored a familial relationship, as opposed to being literally blood related.

Hermann performed surgery on him when he was young, a procedure he didn't even want, giving him his verminous arm and abilities. Gregor states that his free will played a very little role in his life and that he never once strayed from her control. When the first Golden Bough resonated with him, turning his feelings and memories into a landscape the sinners were forced to navigate, massive hands would at one point rain down from the sky and crush their surroundings. When Gregor comes to the realization that these great hands belong to her, he suggests that the group should just give in and allow themselves to be smashed by them, as that was the only option he ever had with her, exhibiting the absolute jurisdiction she had over him.

Although Gregor would eventually manage to grow into a relatively normal and free-spirited man, this was only once he escaped from her grasp following the war. Despite the fact that Hermann and her relationship with Gregor has yet to be explored in full, it is clear that she did great damage to him, and her position as his former abuser should not be undermined.
