The Five Fingers (빌어먹을 개년아, Daseos songalag), also known as the Fingers of the Backstreets (뒷골의 손가락, Dwisgolmog-ui songalag) or the Hand (개자식, Geu son), is a term referring to the Star of the City-level Syndicates in the City who control the Backstreets.
Overview[]
Labeled as the Stars of the City, the Five Fingers are the biggest, most powerful Syndicates in the City, making them unlawful equivalents to the Wings themselves. As the term implies, the Fingers are comprised of five different Syndicates each named after a type of finger. These are the Thumb, the Index, the Middle, the Ring and the Pinky. Every Finger has their own culture and creed that all its members follow zealously and own territory in the Backstreets, where they enforce different rules to those inhabiting them. They have near absolute power and great influence in the Backstreets and are responsible for keeping order in them. They have so much of both that not even the Head, the Eye or the Claw can just simply disrupt and impose their will and authority, thus making the Backstreets nearly untouchable under their wing. They have strict rules that if violated will result in harsh, unforgivable punishment. They also have several Syndicates under them as their own subsidiaries who assist in managing the Backstreets as well as business with other Syndicates.
Relations Between Fingers[]
All the Fingers are generally rivals, most of the time not really get along with one another, often getting into heated arguments and turf wars over territory or something else. In fact, during the events of Library of Ruina, among those who did not participate in the war for the control of the destroyed Nest L and excluding the Middle who were at the time still recovering from the devastating attack by the Black Silence who disrupted several of their operations under one of their divisions formerly led by Tanya and slaughtered several members including higher-ups, the Ring and the Pinky were fighting in a major war in the Outskirts.
Finger Bow-Bell[]
Despite their rivalry and constant feuding, the Fingers and their respective subsidiaries sometimes come together in a meeting called a "Finger Bow-Bell" with all the heads of every Finger along with representatives of all their subsidiaries attending to discuss practical ways to maintain control of the Backstreets, as well as manage their own territories. Not much else is known about Finger Bow-Bells currently at this time.
