Overview |
“ I am Heathcliff. My greatest miseries in this world have been Heathcliff's miseries, and I have watched and felt each from the beginning: my great thought in living is himself! ”
Every Catherine, as the name implies, is every instance of Catherine from all Mirror Worlds, who believes that all Catherines were the source of all Heathcliff pain and, due to her love for all Heathcliffs, seeks to kill all Catherines. She is a major antagonist in Canto VI: The Heartbreaking.
Appearance[]
Every Catherine appears nearly exact to Catherine, sharing the same overall appearance, however with a pale and spectral look to her. She is completely gray with a mournful expression on her face, and her half-lidded eyes crying. She has pointier fingers, appearing like claws, and with longer, more tangled, hair. The hem of her dress ends in ghostly shreds, and she has no visible feet, allowing her to float.
Personality[]
Every Catherine acts, due to being a Mirror World variant of Catherine, largely like her, yet with her grief overwhelmingly present. She is frequently thrown into outbursts of wailing and crying, heartbroken over her failure of her and Heathcliff's relationship no matter what world they were in. Through this, she has grown resentful towards all other Catherines, treating them as obstacles to finding some sort of happiness for her love, and either working with them to spread the sorrow, or outright killing them, all to save any Heathcliff.

Trivia[]
- Every Catherine is based on the ghost of Catherine Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. In the novel, Catherine's ghost haunts Heathcliff from the moment he disturbs her grave until his death. After Heathcliff's death, their ghosts are united and rumored to haunt the moors near Wuthering Heights.
- The Mirror World Dante sees while clearing all Cathys in which Catherine and Heathcliff are standing side by side smiling happily while standing next to their own gravestones is reminiscent of the reunion the couple has in the afterlife in Wuthering Heights.
