Limbus Company Wiki

Do you see now? That La Manchaland is where we relive our beginnings and ends. Because it was said that amusement parks have no place for what isn't happy... Fated to repeat our beginnings and ends ad infinitum, the times when we were still happy... When we were still... us. Because only then shall our memories become tainted by happiness.
—Dulcinea, Canto VII, The Dream Ending

Dulcinea is a Second Kindred Bloodfiend, Overseer of La Manchaland's Area 3, a secondary antagonist in Canto VII: The Dream Ending and one of the main supporting characters in Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing.

Appearance[]

Dulcinea is a woman with short platinum blonde hair cut in a bob cut style. The top half of her face is obscured by a mask resembling a butterfly, designed and sewn into her face by The Barber, as is the case for all Area 3 Bloodfiends. Behind this mask, her left eye glows red. She wears a tall black hat adorned with a purple ribbon, a purple suit ensemble featuring a tailcoat and an oversized cravat topped with a large ribbon, as well as purple nail polish. She carries a purple parasol which she uses as a weapon, folded when not engaging in combat.

Personality[]

Dulcinea is principally defined by her discontent with her role in La Manchaland as "the Princess of the Parade". Despite being one of the highest ranking Bloodfiends present within La Manchaland and outranking the other two Overseer Bloodfiends, she views herself as merely another one of its attractions, finding nothing but ennui in the endless parade she leads but cannot stop. She harbours particular disdain for Don Quixote, who remains blissfully unaware of her true identity as Sancho, and the consequent troubles of being a Bloodfiend, due to drinking from the River of Oblivion.

Prior to La Manchaland's collapse, Dulcinea displayed similar signs of detachment, showing neither support nor opposition to her Father's desire to participate on the human's side in the Bloodfiend War. She placed high value upon her esteem as the Princess of La Manchaland and beauty during this period, notably believing that it is in the nature of all things to be drawn to beauty, as well as teasing The Barber for her comparative lack of popularity. While she strongly valued filial piety like most Bloodfiends, admonishing Sancho for speaking against their Father, she ultimately participated in the plot against her Father alongside the other Overseer Bloodfiends, seemingly being the one to drive the first stake into his chest.

Story[]

Over two hundred years ago before the time of Limbus Company, Dulcinea, due to her outstanding beauty, was chosen to play the role of La Manchaland's Princess of the Parade in Area 3; Dulcinea herself being part of the attraction. Later on, Cassetti, a sixth kindred, would take the accompanying role of the Prince of the Parade, before leaving La Manchaland to form an empire of his own on a WARP train in Murder on the WARP Express.

During Canto VII: The Dream Ending, the Sinners met Dulcinea at the end of the parade as the overseer Bloodfiend of Area 3. Recognizing Don Quixote as Sancho and remarking her hatred of her eyes, she started a lengthy fight together with the surrounding members of the parade, against the Sinners and the accompanying Jia Xichun. After the fight, Hong Lu remarks that his sister, Jia Xichun, appeared to be vaguely courting Dulcinea during the battle.

While injured, Sansón appears and took her away, before he once again forced the Sinners into a stage play.

Once the Sinners had entered the story dungeon, Dulcinea, alongside the other two overseer Bloodfiends, appear at the base of the Ferris wheel in center of the Fathoms of Ego, where the three initiated a final fight against the Sinners in order to kill and feed their blood to their Father. The three of them, already heavily injured before the fight, appeared to be killed by the Sinners.

In the events of Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing, following Don Quixote's death, her body was taken by Wei and the rest of Jia Xichun's clan to the Jia Family Estate in H Corp. using the WARP shinkansen, where she was the promptly revived in the Yangtze River. Described as the Jade Beauty of La Manchaland by the Jia family, her marriage with Jia Xichun comprised a major role in Part 2. After exchanging betrothal gifts with Grandmother Jia using her bag of Peseta Coins, the tea ceremony began, wherein Heathcliff manifested his E.G.O. After the ceremony, she was properly introduced to multiple members of the Jia family, including Jia Xichun's big sister Jia Yuanchun, who immediately attacked her with U Corp's ultravibro-oscillation pressurized water hose. She was then saved by Hong Lu, who deflected the water stream with Xingyiquan after cultivating his E.G.O. Their wedding resumed until the end, after which she exchanged her last words with the sinners before going their separate ways. In the 8th Anniversary Livestream of Project Moon, Kim Jihoon explained in Korean that her marriage into the Jia Family meant that Jia Xichun will have more leverage over the other family head candidates, which ended up making her the first in line of the other candidates, due to many of them dying in the canto and the survivors not willing to inherit the family fortune. As of currently, Dulcinea and Jia Xichun are the two family heads of the Jia household.
