Overview

Brazen Bull (M-01-11-07) is a TETH-Class Abnormality encountered during Canto IV. It was contained in its ovate form by the Technology Liberation Alliance, before it escaped and wreaked havoc on Nest K.

It is fought on stages 4-3 and 4-6, and later reappears in the Reminisced League of Nine Dungeon as an event where it may be fought again.

It can also be battled on Thursdays in Thread Luxcavation, and encountered in the Mirror Dungeon through Abnormality events and as a potential boss.

It is the source of the E.G.O Capote.

Appearance[]

Brazen Bull is bronze, metal statue with the appearance of a bull. It is coated in rust and heat marks, and the metal is described in its Observation Log to be a copper and zinc alloy. Steam can be seen being emitted from its nostrils. The mouth of the bull is wide open, revealing a human head inside. As demonstrated in battle, the human figure is capable of emerging out from the bull's mouth, at least up till its abdomen. Its skin is red and scarred, and there appears to be a look of permanent agony on its face.

When fought, it goes by the name Brazen Bull - Tearful (M-01-11-07-TEAR) where a strange blue liquid (tears) can be seen oozing out from several parts of its body.

Story[]

Log Writer: Meursault

- Composed of steel plates with bluish rust and marks left by heat.
- Its appearance resembles that of an animal commonly referred to as the bull.
- Though the analysis isn't precise, the material's properties suggest it consists of an alloy of copper and zinc.
- It has another component other than steel plates; there appears to be a humanlike being inside it.
- K Corp's drones are flying around it. They appear to be filming Sinners occasionally.
- Though the reason or principle is unclear, it's thrown into a state of agitation. Because it was expected to make the battle more unfavorable for us as it went on, I suggested to the manager that the drones be destroyed first.
- The being inside constantly had a facial expression one would make while in pain.
- Its movement tends to be erratic and abrupt, possibly due to the pain caused by the heat.
- Its body is assumed to have intense heat. Whenever a Sinner was attacked by it, causalgia and burns could be observed.
- Clouds of gas assumed to be breaths or steam were observed near its head.
- It sometimes raised its body to slam a Sinner with its weight. And other times, from the head...the humanlike being emerged for an attack. Its dizzying cry left a lasting impression.
- When a Sinner was attacked by the humanlike being, they would display serious depression. The mental damage possibly caused them to be immobilized or become reluctant in combat. This effect is expected to be temporary.
- Concerned that it might render Sinners unable to further participate in battle, the manager has ordered to prioritize disabling its head. It is deemed to be an effective approach. The humanlike being could no longer be observed in battle once dealt with.
- No further discoveries to be made; the observation log is concluded.

MD Brazen Bull

A pained moan echoes across the heat.
It’s hard to tell if it comes from a beast or a human.

A sizzle spreads into the air
along with the smell of burning flesh.

“Please! I need water!
Won’t someone give me water to drink?”

Give water.
Select to gain a Keywordless E.G.O Gift
You pour some water into the mouth,
only for it to immediately burst into steam.

Its scorching body won’t allow a single drop in.

Whether from the pain inflicted by scalds,
or the frustration of unquenched thirst,
the bull is thrown into a rampage, ramming into walls.

We are not spared from its wrathful charge.

the bull lets out a great bellow.

It is a sorrowful wail that brings a tear to your eye.

A deep, mournful cry rang through the air for a long time.

Drink water.
Win the battle to earn a Keywordless E.G.O Gift and a Burn E.G.O Gift
It seems a bit pointless to pour water in there.
You give water to the Sinners, who were sweating and suffering in the sweltering heat, instead.
The bull roars in despair...
... But at least the Sinners each got to take a sip of water.
Even before you finish the thought, the bull begins to charge in your direction.

Trivia[]

  • The Abnormality is based on the Brazen Bull, a torture and execution device from ancient Greece where the victim is locked inside a metal bull. A fire is lit underneath to heat the metal, cooking the victim and burning them alive. It's said that the victim's screams sound like the cry of a bull.
  • When fought in the main story of Canto IV, its name was originally Brass Bull. This has since been corrected.
  • Its E.G.O Gift, Rusty Commemorative Coin, works with E.G.O skills as well (including Corrosion skills). As it reuses the skill rather than generate a new one, it does not consume extra E.G.O resources. The reused skill still generates extra resources.
