“ Do not be so sorry for the brevity of this reunion, dear old friend. We shall see one another again in due time. Regrettably, I must make my exit. I rarely ever leave work on time, for I wear so many hats. ”
Aseah is a researcher and part of the League of Nine Littérateurs. He worked alongside The Ring Maestro Jumsoon, who had stolen Aseah away from N Corp., to test the limits of The Glass Mirror and run experiments on the children from Vergilius' orphanage.
He was first seen in Leviathan Book5 - Video and makes his first appearance in Canto VI: The Heartbreaking.
Appearance[]
Aseah is a tall man with long, black hair covering the right side of his face. It is tied back in a tall ponytail. He wears a smug expression on his face. He wears a high-necked black shirt beneath a standard uniform seen of members of Hermann's group within N Corp., with two large black belts diagonally across his undershirt.
In Leviathan, he looks largely the same, yet wears a lab coat seemingly provided by the Ring to all of the scientists enlisted under it.
Personality[]
Similar to most other members of the League of Nine Littérateurs, he speaks cryptically a majority of the time, waxing poetry when confronted with others attempting to make sense of his actions. However, unlike others within his former group, he seems to have a greater focus on scientific accomplishment, rather than ethics or morality, having willingly chosen to experiment on orphans and civilians as means to accomplish his goal of expanding tech relating to the Mirror.
Background[]
Aseah was formerly a part of the original League of Nine Littérateurs, spending time creating inventions for enjoyment with others. Little is known of what he made or how he interacted with the group at this time, but due to the overall closeness of others it can be assumed he was likely good friends with most others within this group.
Eventually, during the group's spiral into its demise following the repeated betrayals, N Corp. would establish a new variation and claim Aseah as well as Gubo, the latter of whom would bring Yi Sang along. Eventually, Aseah would be taken in by the Ring to continue his experimentations.
Story[]
Leviathan[]
Aseah is first seen when the Ring is being investigated, having been picked up by Jumsoon as a lead scientist in charge of experiments using the children of Vergilius' orphanage they kidnapped. Through his experimenting, Lapis would be turned into her current state, Charon. Through the death of Jumsoon and the fallout of the specific branch of the Ring, it would appear that Aseah, as with several other members of the former Syndicate branch, would join under Hermann's League of Nine Littérateurs, where they would continue their work within T Corp.
Canto VI: The Heartbreaking[]
Aseah would first make himself known once the Sinners reach Wuthering Heights' basement, appearing alongside the former Ring members disguised as Öufi Association Fixers, vaguely sharing his intended use for those stuck within the machines to reach a "purer" point of humanity. Despite the dismay of his former friend, Yi Sang, he does not appear to feel any guilt over the suffering those within his experiments go through, before declaring himself too weak to fight the Sinners himself, disappearing back into the shadows while those more capable battle.
Returning to the group after the majority of the manor's basement has been destroyed, Aseah makes use of Linton's body as he transformed into a more pure 'putty', bringing back Erlking Heathcliff, who begins the Wild Hunt. From here, Aseah disappears again, seemingly leaving the manor to return to Hermann.
Trivia[]
- Aseah is directly inspired by Guinhoe member Yi Hyoseok.
